critical mas is an arts training and consultancy agency specialising in the fields associated with Carnival Arts. The organisation is directed by Frankie Goldspink and Chris Slann who have between them over 30 years experience in developing and sustaining Carnival and Celebratory arts projects. Additionally, critical mas work with a loose association of freelance carnival artists, trainers and event managers to support the project work of their clients and partners.

Frankie and Chris have worked for many local authorities and arts development agencies to support new carnival initiatives. Previous clients include; Luton Borough Council, which now claims to manage Britain’s biggest one-day Carnival; Interaction Milton Keynes; Norwich City Council; Borehamwood Borough Council and Northamptonshire Camber of Commerce, Training and Enterprise. They currently reside on the Isle of Wight and are developing arts, regeneration and learning projects themed on Carnival.
